Weekend App Attack! Meegenius

This weekend I’m doing a quick review on Meegenius – an online reading library for kids. Meegenius is pretty well known in the teaching world, but I wanted to share all of the different ways teachers can access Meegenius in the classroom.
Meegenius is a site that you need to subscribe to. Subscriptions can be bought for as little as $5 a month. Or, parents and teachers can buy individual books for about $1.99. Meegenius does offer 5 FREE online books to everyone who visits their site or app.  These 5 free books would be a great literacy/listening center for a week! 🙂
Kids can read their 5 free books online on the computer by visiting their website HERE.
Meegenius also has an app that is available in the Apple Store, Google Play Store, and Windows Store.
What I love about Meegenius is that students can choose to read the story on their own or have the story read to them.  The student can also pause the story and resume play (great for those times I call a student back to work with them one on one).

One of the coolest features I want to share with you is one that some teachers do not know about! Meegenius is fabulous about partnering with teachers and schools.  As a result, if you sign up for a teacher account and put in a request, they can grant you access to 70 additional book titles (valued at over $200!) in addition the 5 free books!  That’s 75 online books for your kiddos to read and enjoy! 🙂  To learn more about their teacher partnerships, click HERE to sign up and get started!  I requested my 70 books and was given access to my free teacher account within a week.  I can’t wait to share all of these new books with the my students! They are going to love having something fresh and fun during Listen to Reading for these long, winter months! I have a feeling my kids are not going to be able to get enough of Meegenius and I’ll be signing up for a subscription. 🙂
I hope you take some time to try out Meegenius in your classroom if you haven’t already found this little gem for reading!
