Description

This hands-on force and motion unit is packed with science experiments, learning stations, games, printables, poems, a force and motion assessment, 12 colorful vocabulary posters, coordinating vocabulary cards, printables, and more! It contains a unique student Motion Mission notebook with six experiments that will have your students critically thinking about science concepts, cause and effect, and connections to their everyday world.

This unit builds on your students’ natural curiosity with tons of motion activities that explore force, energy, work, friction, push and pull, directional language, critical thinking skills, roll and slide concepts, and speed! Your students will use familiar, kid-friendly materials and places such as the playground and their school to learn the basic concepts of force and motion.

Each experiment and activity includes easy to follow, detailed teacher descriptions with an included objective, introduction, and directions. Kid-friendly lab reports are included to provide your little scientists with the ultimate response sheets for learning!

A few activities require the use of some common materials that I was able to easily find in my classroom or purchase all at my local dollar store. (example: marbles)

This unit would be perfect for first and second-grade classrooms, as well as third-grade students who need additional hands-on activities to learn about the concepts of motion, energy, force, and friction. There are enough activities in this unit to easily cover two weeks of learning and lessons.
