CVCE Silent E Phonics Boom Cards: Tap and Blend

This Tap and Blend digital Boom Cards resource helps students decode and blend words with the cvce pattern, or silent e words. Audio is included on ALL slides and directions! This is the perfect phonics resource for explicit practice with decoding and blending! Boom Cards can be used and played on any device that has access to the Internet, such as a tablet, mobile device, laptop, or computer! Any child who is working on blending and reading silent e words will benefit from this phonics resource. 40 cards are included within this resource.

How do you play and use these digital Boom Cards?

Students will first be welcomed into the adorable interactive reading group. Then, the student will click on a cvce card on the bulletin board. 10 interactive silent e “tap and blend” cards are included for each of the following long vowels: a_e, i_e, o_e, and u_e. The student will tap the dots to read and listen to each sound. (Audio is included if the student needs assistance.) There is NO audio dot included under the silent e. This helps students understand that the silent e grapheme at the end of a cvce word does not make a sound. The child will drag the finger across the line as they blend the sounds together and read the word aloud. Click on the green button to check the word they read. The blue arrow moves them to the next slide.
