SUMMER Text Evidence Reading Passages with a Freebie!
It’s done! If you follow me on Instagram you know I’ve been working like a busy bee on these passages. My kiddos were ready for some summer themed text based evidence passages after we finished my Spring Edition. These reading packs are the perfect combination of reading and learning engagement. It contains 40 passages and covers 20 topics. Each informational passage has a paired fiction passage with it. Take a look!

Below is where the magic takes place! Students LOVE color coding their evidence within the passage. The passage is also set up for your students to practice their fluency by coloring a sunshine every time they finish reading the passage to keep track. On every passage, there is a Read & Respond section to help your students answer comprehension questions in complete sentences. The comprehension ranges from anything from identifying the central or main idea, asking questions, answer questions about details in the text, comparing and contrasting, inferences, and so much more!
The passages are written on a second and third grade Lexile level so I often have first grade teachers ask me, “Can I use this?” Yes, yes, yes! I use them with my firsties every week for whole class stretch texts. I also use them with my top two guided reading groups. They do very well with them!! Below are lots of ideas on ways to use these evidence packs.
