Want A Sneak Peek?! {Freebie!}

I was teaching a small group guided reading lesson a few weeks ago and asked a simple comprehension question to my kiddos.  They stared at me blankly.  Have you ever experienced that? It was one of those “in-the-text” questions. One of those “Really…? No one knows the answer?” questions. A question that is so obvious you can’t help but stare blankly back at them for a second.

I used the magic words:

“Read it again.” I said.

I asked the question again.  Two hands went up.

“Read it again.” I said.

A few more hands went up.  Ahh…there we go! Light bulb moment! 🙂

My students clearly needed some guidance and practice in using text-based evidence to support their understanding of the text.  I knew I needed some passages that would guide my students through a simple process of rereading text for fluency and understanding, provide an engaging way for them to look back into the text to find evidence to support their comprehension, and offer an opportunity for them to respond to their reading.

I’m excited to give you a “sneak peek” into my next TpT product, which will be available *tonight!*  I’ll be uploading it later this evening, but I’m just so excited, I wanted to share a page with you now! 🙂

The pack is a Fall Edition and contains 44 passages of paired readings.  Each of the 22 topics includes an informational passage and a paired fiction passage to help your students bridge their understanding of the concepts and make connections across the two genres.

I’m so excited about it! I have a sample for you to test out and try.

  1. Don't you just love those blank stare moments? Once again, you've created a great way to prevent those stares. Love the way you have the students color to show they've read and then color to show certain answers…keeps them focused!

    Congrats on your TPT milestone! You rock!
