Monday Made It! & Vegas Bound!

Happy Monday everyone! I’m taking a quick break from packing for Vegas! My bedroom looks like a tornado has blown through and my floor is currently covered in shoes, dresses, notebooks, and more! I’m linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for her Monday Made It linky party. Let’s get started because this post is packed with pictures for you! 🙂
My first project is a craft. Did you all read that correctly?! A CRAFT.  I’m that annoying teacher in your building who is always asking you for some string, or yarn, or felt because I never do crafts and am never prepared when it comes to crafting.
But this week I tried. So here’s my “show and tell” time. 🙂
I bought this $10 washboard at a local consignment shop. It was old and yucky and dusty but I figured I could turn it into something cool for our house.
I sanded it down and painted a clear sealer over it.
I took a candle and rubbed wax on different areas that I wanted to appear “distressed,” such as corners and edges.
Next, I painted it a creamy color called Popcorn by Martha Stewart.
Then, I gently scraped off the paint from the areas I  had previously applied the wax.
I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters to “Lost Socks.”
Then I attached wire to the bottom and hung a few clothespins.
Ta da!! A cute little decor item for our laundry room! 🙂 I’m so happy with how it turned out and it looks right at home on the wall beside our washer and dryer.
I leave for Vegas bright and early TOMORROW!!! I.Can’t.Wait.
I made my name tags last night and I think they turned out so cute!!
My luggage is decked out in Sugar and Spice flair, too!
(Not necessary but I was having fun! It’s not too often you get to use your blog button in real life!
This year, I’m replacing my alphabet on the wall with number posters. My kids never use the alphabet that is on the wall because we use Fundations in my school and they have alphabet strips on their desk that they use instead. However, every year, I have first graders who cannot correctly write their numbers from 0-20 and throughout the entire year, they have a hard time learning how to spell the numbers. I’m hoping these will be the perfect reference for them!

Aren’t they super cheerful and colorful?! I can’t wait to hang them up in my room.  The pack comes with TWO versions – chalkboard and a white background. You can print the version you like best, or mix and match the posters! 🙂

Finally, I have been up to more thrift shopping for our home!
I picked up these adorable items at a local vintage shop and had so much fun arranging them and placing them in spots that needed a little extra love. 🙂  I just adore the little light blue love doves I found. I’m also really loving the old key that now has a home in our foyer. <3
Before I forget, I’m going to announce the winners of my Think, Talk, Teach: Daily Discussion for Little Learners giveaway!
Congratulations Laura C and Jessica B!
