Description
I made this little freebie to help my students review vowel teams in our first grade classroom. Each student was given a different car that contained a vowel team we have already learned and practice in class. The students looked through their poetry binders and around the room to collect and write three words that use their vowel team on the car. The students also helped each other come up with words when someone got stuck! These can be used as posters, on a bulletin board, or in the hallway.
You can print each train car once, or have all students work on the same sound. If you have already studied both sounds that a grapheme makes, such as /ow/ as in snow and /ow/ as in cow, print the train car twice. Editable versions of the front of the train and the car can be found on pages 18-20. Use the editable versions to make a short vowel train, word family train, letter train, etc!
