Text Based Evidence Reading Passages! {Fall Edition}
Thanks to some ah-mazing bloggy friends, I was able to get my Text Based Evidence Reading Passages {Fall Edition} revised, edited, and posted to TpT!! Yay! I’m so, so excited to share this pack with you. I have two first grade reading groups that were in the back of my mind as I was creating this pack, and I just know it’s going to help them really dive into a piece of text.
The pack contains 44 passages and covers 22 high interest social studies and science topics. Each topic contains an informational passage and a fiction passage to help your students make connections to their reading across both genres.
Students will read the passage multiple times for fluency, look back into the text and locate information with their crayons for three text-based evidence questions, and end the lesson with a written response activity called Read & Respond. The written response question varies by passage and covers many Common Core topics such as author’s purpose, main/central idea, character and setting, and much more.
This pack looks fantastic! I read your post earlier today that this pack was on its way so I was watching for it! I love that the kids have to find proof in the passage. I can't wait to use it!!

Okay I forgot to tell you how I would use it in my classroom – oops! I plan to use it with my split 1/2 class to be done as independent reading after they are finished their morning work. Just a fantastic product!

As someone who owns tons of your products including some of your other reading passages I just have to say that you are awesome! These passages are perfect for students who need extra practice finding those "right there" answers in the text (exactly the kids I work with). I imagine they'd be perfect independent work for other students. I'm definitely adding these to my cart! 🙂

I would love these, and I would use them during my Daily 5 time. Depending on the students' abilities and behaviors, they might work on this during read to self sometimes, during buddy read, and while they are working with the teacher. Such a fantastic idea! I love the structure…once I do a few with the kids, I could leave it as a sub activity so easily!
