Description

Word Work Wheels are a fun way to spice up your word work centers- without the prep! Word Work Wheels can be used with ANY word list such as sight words, spelling lists, phonics or word family patterns, or vocabulary words! They require little to no prep, and they keep students engaged in practicing their sight words or spelling words! This resource comes in both a printable version AND a digital version!

Word Work Wheels include DIGITAL spinners!

The digital word work wheels can be used on any device that has Microsoft PowerPoint installed on it. Please not these are NOT created in or for Google Slides. Please ensure that you have or can install Microsoft PowerPoint prior to purchasing if you intend on using the digital spinners. The digital word work wheels are perfect when you are introducing a new wheel to your center time, or for whole-group use, too! Simply click on the SPIN button to start the spinner. Click the SPIN button again to stop the spinner, and then see where it lands! Your students will LOVE it! Students then work in their word work books, notebooks, or on blank paper to write their words in the various ways on the wheel.

What is a Word Work Wheel?

Each word work wheel provides different ways to practice spelling and writing words. Students spin the word work wheel using a paperclip and a pencil, OR spin the spinner using the digital file. They match the picture on the spinner to the picture on the word work list to practice writing and spelling their word. Then, spin again and repeat!

When can Word Work Wheels be used?

My students complete word wheels independently during our reading block, but this could easily be a fun partner activity, as well. Word Work Wheels are perfect for word work centers, word work practice, fast-finisher activities, morning tubs or morning work, small group practice, and more!

Use the word work wheels to help your students practice any word list: sight words, spelling words, vocabulary words, words from a basal program, etc. Your students could even use your word wall as their “list” to practice from!

What is included in this resource?

• 6 Printable Word Work Wheels – Use one wheel a week for a minimum of six weeks of word work centers! After students have learned and used all six wheels, you can toss all six wheels into your center and let students pick and choose!

• DIGITAL Word Work Wheels that can be opened and used on any device that has Microsoft PowerPoint installed on it. The file will open as a PowerPoint Show and you can click on the SPIN button to start and stop the spinner.

• 15 coordinating word work task cards

• Word Work Wheels and the task cards are provided in both color and a black and white version for ink-friendly options!

How can I use the coordinating task cards?

Use these cards to introduce each activity to your students, or display them to provide a visual aide. You could even choose to place the task cards in your word center before introducing the word work wheels to use them as additional activities. Introducing one new Word Work Wheel a week provides you with 6 weeks of word work activities, PLUS use the word task cards for additional material!

Word Work Wheels are interactive, engaging, and easy to set up!
