Our Valentine’s Day

My class had so much fun on Valentine’s Day!  We had our Valentine’s Day party in the afternoon, followed by parent-teacher conferences.  Can you say one.long.day?  To top it off, I went to school not feeling good at all.  My teacher friends tried to tell me to go home but…come on, people.  Can you blame me for staying?  Having a sub on a party day? No thank you!  My students would have been great but I would have been the one at home worrying all day!

On Wednesday, we made our Valentine’s Day bags.  They turned out so cute!  My student teacher last year taught me how to make these and I just had to do it again with my first graders.

During math, we graphed candy hearts by grouping them into colors, creating a bar graph, and answering questions about our data.

In the afternoon, it was time for the party!  I had to take a picture of one of their tables.  This group of kids had the messiest Valentine’s Day table I’d ever seen haha.  They had so much fun going through their bags! 🙂
We also played a Valentine’s Day sight word bingo game.  I loved that they were practicing identifying sight words and didn’t even realize it!

To top it off, my wonderful husband sent these beautiful roses and lilies to my classroom! 🙂
I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day with their class and their families!
Happy Learning,

  1. Pretty flowers! That table looks familiar! There is something about those little Valentine cards, isn't there! I remember the feeling as a kid, so I get their excitement! Thanks for sharing!
