My New Classroom…

Most of you know I am moving to first grade next year. That also means I spent the past week moving alllll of my stuff into a new classroom. I’ll miss the large size and the storage I had in my old room but I’m excited about finally having windows again and being in a hallway with other teachers.  (My old room was on the other side of the building.  We called our classroom the “black lagoon.”)

I was at school for the past few days until 8:00 at night packing and moving boxes & furniture.  Let’s just say I’m exhausted!  At my district, we are required to take everything down, cover it up, and put it away for the summer.  Before I left school yesterday, I took pictures of what my new classroom looked like so I could start to plan out what I was going to do with it come July.  How do I put this…?  It’s going to need a lot of work!!  I’m already excited to create and design what my new room will look like. Putting a classroom together is one of my all time favorite parts of being a teacher.

Here are the before pictures.  You’ll have to wait until August to see the “after” pics….  ðŸ™‚
Do you see the dirt spots over by my new desk?  Yuck. I pulled a half-melted crayon off the floor.  It was just waiting there to welcome me to first grade.
Windows! 🙂  I can’t wait to make the room into a colorful, cheerful place to be!
I really have no idea what is going on here.  It’s a mess! My fiance has already agreed volunteered to come into my room over the summer to clean them up.
I’m now less than two weeks away to the big day!  I’m most definitely not a crafty person at all, but did take some time to create our cake topper and some flower pens for our guestbook.  These are probably really silly looking to all of you crafty-queens out there but I will admit, it’s the first day of summer and I’m already panicking on what I’m going to talk about on here for the next two months without students. Am I the only one?!
Weston and I will be sleeping in tomorrow for the first time in over a month.  It’s pretty sad that I am genuinely excited about this!   Here he is, ready for some much needed sleep after a busy last week of school! 🙂
Happy SUMMER! 🙂

  1. Ohh my good ness Weston must be my baby, Watson's long lost brother! He's too cute! Our principal also requires us to take it all down, even if we are staying in the same place. It forces those that are not so creative and tidy to clean. At least I think that's her motive. Congrats on our big day, I love the cake topper!

  2. Don't worry about posting about school! Post about your big day!!! I can't wait to see pictures!!!! Happy summer! 🙂

  3. We always had to pack our stuff up in the summer too even if we kept the same room. Good news is you get to start with a clean slate and have fun being creative. Good luck on the big day coming up! Also, thanks for voting for me on LiveBinders 🙂
