Making Applesauce! & A Freebie (Long Overdue)

This month is flying!  There is so much I want to share with you but cannot seem to find enough time in the day to post it all on here.  These past few weeks have been busy with apples, owls, and Halloween.  This is long overdue, but tonight I’d like to share with you some pictures of our applesauce day!  My first graders had so much fun.

First, we all helped chop and get the apples ready.

Then, we loaded all of our chopped-up apples into the Crock-pot. We added sugar, water, and cinnamon.  Our room smelled delicious!!

Next, it was time to get busy.  We sequenced the ingredients and steps we took to make our applesauce.

Finally, we used our pictures to write a “how-to” of our class recipe.  We took our recipes home to share with our families.  Many of my students came back on Monday and said they made applesauce with their families that weekend.  Yum!

We also wrote opinion pieces after we tasted our homemade applesauce.  Below is the activity page we used to write our opinions.  Grab it for free by clicking the picture below and opening it in Google Docs.
The sequencing pictures and “how-to” template from the photographs can all be found in my Apples to Applesauce Unit on TpT.  You can head to my store to check it out by clicking {HERE}.

This weekend I decorated the house a bit for Halloween.  Of course, I didn’t forget to decorate Weston as well….  He was NOT happy with me!  ðŸ™‚

Stop by later this week to check out pictures from our owl unit!

Happy Learning! Have a wonderful week,
