Five For Friday!

Ahhh, it definitely feels like report card, Halloween parties, and parent-teacher conference time doesn’t it? If you’re not a teacher, those three things are code for: a couple of crazy-busy weeks in which teachers run on coffee, get temporary arthritis from typing report card comments, feel guilty for not paying enough attention to their pets all week, and take naps on Friday evenings.
Or at least, that’s what they mean to me. 🙂
Here is a snapshot of my week with five random pictures for this week’s Five for Friday linky party with Doodle Bugs Teaching!
We kicked off our descriptive writing unit with Hadar from Miss Kindergarten’s Monster Madness pack. I let the kids use scrap construction paper to add hair to their monsters.  They loved it!  They were very attached to their monsters, so it made describing them easy cheesy! We turned these organization maps into a one-page descriptive writing piece. They look adorable in our hallway!

My beautiful mom took some time to come into our classroom and read with my kiddos! She practiced sight words with my low kiddos and ran a small group with my high kids on a nonfiction book.  We had so much fun!

We took a break from our traditional spelling routine to practice our sight words and digraph words with shaving cream this week!
We’ve been working really hard on our retelling skills during small groups.  We’ve also been using these great duet whisper phones to practice our fluency when we read with a partner! I purchased three sets this summer and I l-o-v-e them! It has made Read to Someone time so much quieter. 🙂  You can find them by clicking HERE.

This is Weston’s favorite spot in our new house.  I don’t understand it because it looks awfully uncomfortable to me! However, this is exactly how I feel by Fridays.  I’m ready to fall asleep wherever!
If you didn’t grab my newest freebie during our blog hop last week, head over to my TpT store to download it {HERE}. The text-evidence passages are a sneak peek at my newest product that will be coming out within the next week!  I’m pretty excited about this one! 🙂
Thanks for taking a peek at our week!
I hope you have a great weekend. 🙂
