Five For Friday!

It’s time for Five for Friday! (Well, it’s late and almost Saturday already!)  I would have posted earlier but we were busy picking out a washer and dryer.  Yep. We live a dangerous life on Friday nights. I did learn that some people get very, very excited about washers and dryers.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the ones we picked out – but I won’t be up all night on Sunday anticipating the arrival of the washer/dryer delivery.  The sales lady kept asking me “Are you excited?!?!” You’d have thought I was buying a puppy, or a boat, or I was about to board the plane to Hawaii.  Instead, I ended up with a washer and dryer.

I’m linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for this week’s five random pictures to share with you!  Since this is a day late already, let’s get started. 🙂

We kicked off our informational writing by learning all about owls this week! Every year, my kids are fascinated by owls and come up with the greatest informational text pieces at the end of the week. We hung these in our hallway.  On Tuesday, we will be dissecting owl pellets for a big science experiment.  We’ll use the experiment to understand the concept of drawing conclusions.

This is a close-up of our owl KWL chart.  Do you record names on your anchor charts?  I always think my kids connect to the anchor chart so much more when I record their name beside the thought or idea they contributed.  It really helps them see that their ideas/questions/thoughts/comments count and makes this concept concrete to them.
I couldn’t help it. I had to get the red pair of Tieks because my feet have never been so comfy at school!!!  My teaching partner asked me the other day what was wrong with me since she hadn’t seen me in heels all week.  These little ballet flats were an early birthday present and I’m in l-o-v-e.
Do you like Scentsy? Cider Mill is my new favorite scent.  This is the scent my house currently smells like and it’s delicious – a mix of apple cider, fall leaves, and pumpkin. Yum!
My next pics are “before and after” pics.  Our painter finished painting the downstairs this week and I’m so excited about how it all turned out.  I spent hours and hours pouring over color samples, Pinterest pictures, and catalogs to find the color palette I wanted for our first home.   Did you know if you purchase a gift certificate from Sherwin Williams, they will send a free color consultant to your home to help you pick the perfect shades? I decided to do this and was so happy I did! It made narrowing down shades so much easier.
This is what the kitchen looked like when we moved in last week:
dark, red, and just not working for me!!!
This is our kitchen now! 🙂
(Our sliding door looks weird because the blinds haven’t come in yet haha.)

I’ll post some more before/after pics as we go along.  The living room was a huge transformation – I’ll post those soon! 🙂
Thank you so much for letting me share my Five for Friday. 🙂 We’re off to spend the weekend with some friends and finally relax a bit after such a busy, long week. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
