Blogger Meet Up, Summer Sessions, and Lesson Plans!
This post is going to be a bit random but fun! 🙂
I had such a fun weekend! On Saturday, I met up with about 20 bloggers and teachers for a Northeast Ohio Blogger Meet Up at the Cheesecake Factory. It was a blast! I feel so blessed to have met such amazing and kind women who are passionate about teaching and our students. Tami, from Blessed in First, hosted the meet up and she was awesome! We all sat there for hours (literally…I arrived at 1:30 and left at 5:00) talking, laughing, and sharing stories of school, teaching, TpT, blogging, and life!
Here are some pictures for you:
I also have an exciting summer event to share with you! I am presenting two sessions this summer for the 2014 Ohio Educator’s Symposium! If you are a teacher in Northeast Ohio and would like me to send you the official brochure of the entire conference, send me an email at secondgradesugarandspice@gmail.com and I can get that to you.
I will be presenting two sessions on June 10th: Success with Small Group Math and Connecting Oral Language to Common Core Content. I can’t wait to share teaching ideas and research with fellow Ohio teachers. 🙂 My math session will share some easy and effective ways to differentiate math instruction and games in your classroom while you are teaching small groups. My Oral Language session will share strategies for writing and reading and ways to amp up the participation and discussion of your students in order to promote quality critical thinking for the Common Core. I presented at this conference last summer and it was so fun! I met so many amazing Ohio teachers and can’t wait for this summer as well!
Finally, I’m posting this coming week’s lesson plans for you. This week it’s all about shapes, weather, opinion writing, quotation marks, and comparing and contrasting! We’re going to be super busy but have a lot of fun. 🙂
Thanks for catching up with me on my weekend and taking a peek at what we’re doing this coming week. I hope you have a great last week of March. Summer is right around the corner! 🙂
Looks like you guys had a great time at your Meet-Up!

Looks like a great week! I love the word wheels!
It was so nice meeting you!!! I had so much fun at the meet-up!!! It was crazy how long we were there when it seemed like we just arrived! 🙂
Quick question about your plans…I love how you do groups during math but what are the students doing while you are meeting with your groups? Did I miss your math centers somewhere?
Hi Mindy! 🙂 My students are engaged in one of these choices while I'm teaching small groups: Math on computer, math on tablet, math with a partner, and math by myself. My "by myself" math games are my Write On/ Write off math game packs in my TpT store. There is a pack for every month. 🙂 the partner games are random ones I find online (Pinterest, TpT, ect.) every month we learn new games and they last us all month! 🙂
